A cool coin that i like

This is one of only six years to carry the "M" mintmark denoting the Melbourne Mint, they were struck from 1916 to 1921.

Hi Silver Gorilla...yes, nice coin! Do you know anything about mintages, etc? I have a 1917M and two 1921Ms. Also a 1951 with the letters "P L" as well as the usual "K G" on it. Any ideas?

Hi there TaxHaven, I love Australian Coin's, Don't ask me why i just do.

Realy im not a Coin Expert, But ill try to help out.

Well lets see here you have a 1917 (M) From 1916 to 1920 all issues were struck at the Melbourne Mint and carry a small "M" under the date. Mintage for the 1917 (M) is 3,808,000
Australia, George V, Threepence
1917 M (KM.24), Auction date: October 18th, 2006 (approx. $1,531 U.S. Dollars as of the auction date)

http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotvie...cID=257&Lot=79

Then you have two 1921Ms In 1921 there are two versions to collect, the one with the "M" mintmark and one without the mint mark, Mintage (7,378,000) Value approx $635 U.S. Dollars.

But there's the Very rare 1921/1922 Overdate that is very very rare
1922/21 Melb / Sydney Overdate Rare Est: Mintage 900 coin's ill post a pic for you to look at.

So then you have the 1951pl its a very common coin
London PL .Mintage 40,000,000

I hope I was some help to you,:D

Many thanks for the info., Silver Gorilla...by the way how do you scan coins? If it is cheap and easy let me know, pls!

I have a special affinity for those little silver reminders of days gone by: Canadian 5 cents, Aussie 3d, India 2 Annas, British 3d and Hong Kong 5 cents silver. Maybe there are other small ones, too.

I'd just put the coin on the scanner and adjust the lighting so it looks decent...don't have a camera so it would have to work for now.

Your very welcome TaxHaven
I allways ask for info and help, And there are many in GIM that are willing to help out.

It should be cheap, if your going to tack your coin's to a internet caf just ask to scan them for you and that way you can send the pic to your email. That way you can post your pic on the net,
I use a digital Camera and a scaner, But i love the Camera it's more Adjustable

Or just buy a digital Camera with a USB cable and connect it your computer, The Cable is for transfering still images from the camera via USB port to your pc.
there are Good and cheap digital Cameras that are not expensive.
